IAPS Table Tennis Championships
On Saturday 23rd April, Mr Bailey took our top table tennis players to Edge Grove for the IAPS U11 and U13 National Table Tennis Championships - Winn Suksriwong, Gavin Lo, Liam Yu, Phoom Kitrungrueangkul, Palm Suksriwong, Hotaka Matsunaga, John Cao and Titan Vongsariyavanich
The U11s were up first, with very strong competition from the outset. Several of our players qualified to the knockout stages, with Palm reaching the semi-finals and facing the National number one. He played his heart out but just missed out on a place in the final. However, after the 3rd place playoffs he is now the 3rd best U11 player in the country. Well done!
The U13s competition got underway in the afternoon, with some more tough matches for the boys. After some tremendous play they all reached the quarter finals. Out of the last eight players in the tournament, we had three Cothillians in the mix. Winn and Gavin were narrowly edged out by the top two seeds, but Phoom got into the last 4 and beat the number two seed in the 3rd place playoff, making him the 3rd best U13 player in the country - fantastic!
